What is Keccak Simulator about?
The Keccak Simulator is a simple and interactive learning tool that allows you to learn more about the Keccak SHA-3 Algorithm.
How can I contact you?
You can send us an email at [email protected] or submit a question through our contact form and one of our team members will respond to you in 2-3 working days.
How do I use the visualizer?
You can download our user manual (Here) to have a more detailed explanation to what each function does and how to navigate the simulator.
Who is explaining the steps out to me during the simulation
We used a text to voice converter from https://www.text2voice.org/.
The voice you are hearing is Salli-Female-US voice.
Where can I read more documentation about the Keccak SHA-3 algorithm
You can view it here: https://keccak.team/index.html
Who are you?
We are a team of 4 full time students from the University of Wollongong. Two of our members are in the Digital Systems Security track and the other two are from the Big Data track. We are all in our penultimate term completing our degree in Computer Science.
How do I choose a hash type?
You can select a hash type (Shake128, Output256) or (Shake256, Output512) by the dropdown list underneath the field where you enter your input value.
What values can i hash?
You can enter any value from special characters, whitespaces, integers and even letters! (e.g. HelloWorld1 2 3!)
How do I start the simulator?
You can do so by entering a Hash value, selecting the hash type and clicking the hash button. You can then select one of eight steps in the simulator’s menu to start watching!
How do I pause the animation? It’s too fast!
You can do so with our Play/Pause button. Pressing it once will pause the simulator and pressing it again will resume it.
I already know the steps building up to the stage, how do I skip it?
You can click on the “>>” button. This will fast forward the animation and skips it to the next scene.
I missed some steps and want to re-watch the step that I missed! How do I go back?
You can click on the “<<” button. This will “rewind” the simulator, bringing the previous scene back!
Can I just use your page as a SHA-3 hashing calculator?
You can! If you prefer to just view the output, you can always skip the simulator menu. Just enter your hash value, select a hashing type, click hash and it will give you the hashed output!
What is the Hashing Analysis all about?
It acts as a calculator and will reproduce a graph comparing the time it takes for hashing the input value for both (Shake128, Output256) and (Shake256, Output512).
Your simulator does not work in my browser!
Our application supports most browsers. Our simulator will work on Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and the latest version of Microsoft Edge (Version 81.0.416.72 onwards).
